The light paintings are created using my own technique where light passes through a colorless painting medium. The technique allows for the layering of multiple drawings, causing the images to merge and intertwine as light filters through them. In the new light works, I wanted to add color and include more recognizable symbols, patterns and references, compared to my earlier monochromatic light paintings. The light boxes are made of wood, with carvings and inlays that allow light to pass through.

This work depicts an alchemical motif of the Sun Tree, which corresponds to the citrinitas stage of the alchemical process. The motif is layered over an image of the human nervous system—our biological Sun Tree—which begins to expand its capacity during the psychological citrinitas stage.

The light box is made from Finnish pine and birch, and can be hung on a wall using a sturdy screw. The LED light inside has an approximate lifespan of 10,000 hours and can be replaced when needed. The box can be opened from the back. The LED has an on/off switch, making it easy to turn the artwork on and off.
